Today at Bear Creek Baptist Church, we gathered together to worship and explore a powerful message brought by Rev. Steve Nelson titled “Who Am I,” rooted in the timeless truths of 2 Corinthians 5:17-21.
Rev. Nelson guided us through this passage, reminding us of the profound transformation that occurs when we accept Christ into our lives. As Paul writes, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17, NIV). Through this scripture, we were called to examine how our identity is reshaped in Christ—not defined by our past mistakes, fears, or worldly standards, but by God’s grace and love.
Rev. Nelson emphasized that as new creations in Christ, we are entrusted with the ministry of reconciliation. God reconciled us to Himself through Christ and now calls us to be His ambassadors, sharing His message of reconciliation with others. In a world often marked by division and strife, this calling is both a privilege and a responsibility.
Through personal stories and biblical insights, Rev. Nelson encouraged us to consider the question, “Who am I in Christ?” It’s an invitation to embrace our identity as forgiven, redeemed, and beloved children of God—living with purpose and extending God’s love to those around us.
Today’s message was a reminder that our identity is securely anchored in God’s unchanging love. As we go about our week, may we carry this truth in our hearts, stepping confidently into the roles God has designed for each of us.
We look forward to seeing everyone next Sunday as we continue to grow in faith and fellowship!
