Overview
Welcome to our Sunday reflection! As we find ourselves in that quiet, reflective space between Christmas and the New Year, today’s service offered a powerful moment of spiritual reset. The atmosphere was filled with anticipation for what lies ahead. Pastor Rev. Rodney Pierce delivered a timely and stirring message titled “Walking in Newness of Life,” reminding us that our faith is not just about what we believe, but how we live.

Message Highlights
Pastor Pierce guided us through the profound truths found in Romans 6, emphasizing our union with Christ.
-
United in Resurrection: referencing Romans 6:5, the Pastor explained that just as we are united with Jesus in a death like His, we will certainly also be united with Him in a resurrection like His. This isn’t just a future hope, but a present reality that empowers us to leave old habits behind.
-
Freed to Live: He highlighted verses 6-7, noting that our “old self” was crucified with Christ so that we are no longer enslaved to sin. The message was clear: because of Jesus, we have the freedom to break chains that once held us bound.
Reflection
Romans 6:11 stood out as the anchor for the week: “In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.”
This verse hits home as we approach the New Year. It challenges us to change our mindset (“count yourselves”). It is a beautiful reminder that we don’t have to carry the baggage of 2025 into 2026. We are invited to be “alive to God,” waking up every morning with a sense of purpose and divine connection.
Weekly Challenge
Prepare for the New Year. This week, take 10 minutes to reflect on Romans 6:11. Instead of just making a generic New Year’s resolution, write down one “old way” you are leaving behind and one way you intend to be “alive to God” in the coming year (e.g., more prayer, forgiving someone, or serving others).
Closing
Thank you for reflecting with us! We hope this message encourages you as you step into a brand new year. Join us next Sunday to kick off 2026 together, and don’t forget to connect with us on Facebook for daily encouragement.
